Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field (Masters preferred)
- 5+ years of practical experience in catheter design and development
- Strong expertise in braided shafts, steerable catheters, and intricate delivery systems
- Proven track record of translating customer inputs into formal engineering specifications
- Understanding of materials commonly utilized in catheter production (e.g., polymers, braids, hypotubes)
- Experience with medical device design controls and working in regulated environments
- Proficiency in CAD software and engineering documentation
Responsibilities
- Convert customer requirements into precise engineering specifications and design inputs
- Oversee the design and development of catheter-based devices, such as braided shafts and steerable systems
- Generate design concepts, conduct trade-off analyses, and produce detailed drawings and documentation
- Spearhead prototype builds, process development, and iterative design improvements
- Establish and implement verification testing to ensure product performance and compliance
- Collaborate closely with clients, manufacturing, quality assurance, and regulatory teams
- Assist in risk management tasks (DFMEA/PFMEA) and maintain design controls documentation
- Identify opportunities for enhancing performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency
- Provide technical leadership on complex catheter development projects
Description
We are looking for a Product / Process Development Engineer with a robust background in catheter design to drive the transformation of customer inputs into detailed engineering specifications, innovative product designs, and viable manufacturing solutions. This position will focus on translating conceptual requirements for catheter-based devices through stages including feasibility, design, prototyping, process development, and verification, ensuring that outcomes align with performance, regulatory, and manufacturability standards. We are offering a direct hire opportunity located in Maple Grove, MN, with a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $140,000 depending on experience.
