Requirements

Must:
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or a related sector; or a 4-year college degree with at least 1 year of relevant management experience; or a 2-year college degree accompanied by 3 or more years of relevant management experience. - A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. - A Stationary Engineer’s license, if mandated by local regulations. - Proficiency in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance is essential. - Ability to work long hours as needed. - Physical demands include lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds continually to handle objects. - Occasional travel for company-related business may be required. - A warm and friendly demeanor at all times is expected. - Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests, demonstrated in a courteous, attentive, and service-oriented manner. - Proficiency in listening, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests. - Capability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines. - A commitment to a friendly, considerate, and service-focused approach toward all interactions with guests and staff. - Attendance at required hotel meetings and training sessions is necessary. - Participation in Manager on Duty coverage as needed is expected. - Compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards for regular attendance as stipulated by the varying needs of the hotel is essential. - Maintenance of high personal appearance and grooming standards, including wearing nametags. - Adherence to Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient hotel operations. - Focus on maximizing productivity efforts, identifying problem areas, and assisting in implementing solutions. - Effective problem-solving skills, including the anticipation, prevention, identification, and resolution of issues when necessary. - Ability to comprehend and evaluate complex information, data, etc., from various sources to achieve set objectives. - Confidentiality in handling information must be maintained.

Responsibilities

- I will supervise and train all Engineering staff in areas such as Customer Service, Empowerment, Standard Operating Procedures, and Loss Prevention Policies. - I will create, approve, and post Engineering staff schedules in accordance with Highgate Hotel standards. - I will establish and manage the annual budget for the department. - I will develop financial forecasts and actively engage in monthly profit/loss review meetings. - I will formulate and execute plans to ensure property, equipment, grounds, and other assets are maintained in satisfactory repair. - I will ensure the hotel complies with all local, state, and federal laws. - I will create and implement a preventative maintenance program for all hotel equipment. - I will ensure that emergency and life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested, and certified according to Highgate Hotel standards. - I will ensure that room maintenance requests are addressed promptly and respectfully. - I will respond immediately to all alarms to determine the exact location and cause, assess the emergency status, and report findings to the Front Desk, taking necessary immediate action. - I will assist with special projects and renovations as required. - I will actively engage in energy conservation initiatives. - I will review all guest and meeting planner feedback to ensure timely identification and resolution of issues. - I will ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). - I will manage all vendor contracts governed by the engineering department. - I will support and engage in all Highgate Hotel programs. - I will lead and participate in the Highgate Hotel Safety Committee.
