Must:
We require a Bachelor’s degree in communications engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, along with 7 years of experience analyzing complex hardware systems for SIGINT solutions. If you have five (5) years of additional hardware engineering experience, it may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree. You should have experience with scheduling requested evaluations from vendors, receiving, unpacking, and setting up commercial equipment for evaluation, reviewing equipment documentation, selecting appropriate evaluation SOPs, and setting up tools and sensors for evaluations. Additionally, operational experience with equipment for defined performance and safety evaluations, collecting technical data, taking photographs of equipment, generating technical reports, and updating policies related to secure destruction is also needed. You should be able to respond to customer inquiries regarding policies and procedures. A current/active TS/SCI w/ polygraph clearance is required.
Responsibilities
As a Hardware Engineer, my responsibilities will include preparing functional requirements and specifications for hardware acquisitions, analyzing hardware specifications, and conceiving practical designs for hardware components such as servers, network devices, and storage devices. I will ensure that any operational hardware issues are correctly identified, and that solutions meet user requirements. I will assist in preparing installation guides, field test procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Conducting site surveys to assess current network configurations and unique site requirements is essential, along with developing hardware installation schedules based on setup, integration, and testing timelines. I will also train site personnel in the proper use of hardware and prepare engineering plans and site installation Technical Design Packages. Additionally, I will configure computers and peripheral equipment and document as-built configurations through drawings.
Description
This position is part of a team offering engineering and Information Technology services to manage, sustain, innovate, modernize, and secure the Nuclear Command and Control (NC2) and Non-NC2 cryptographic production infrastructure. Physical requirements for the role include the ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time, constant operation of computers and office machinery, effective communication with co-workers and management, and the ability to move vendor equipment. The role may involve repetitive motions and delivering presentations.
