Requirements

Must:
We are seeking a candidate with a robust and varied background, particularly in software development for embedded systems. Experience in multi-disciplinary projects that converge mechanical, electrical, systems, and software engineering is highly preferred. The ideal applicant should have the ability to break down complex challenges into manageable components, formulate strategies for addressing each part, and execute the solution development, testing, and verification processes. - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline - At least 5 years of experience in software development for embedded systems, especially within UAS - Strong command of C++, Python, and/or Rust - Familiarity with Embedded Linux operating systems - Experience with CMake, Docker, and/or GitLab - Excellent debugging and troubleshooting capabilities - Experience with Pixhawk and PX4 platforms - Understanding of various data communication protocols is a plus - Willingness and enthusiasm for travel and participation in field tests, up to 10% of the year - U.S. Citizenship is required, alongside the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance

Responsibilities

In the role of Embedded Software Engineer at MORSE, I will have you engaged in the development of software for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) research and development programs. Your responsibilities will include: - Creating firmware/software for embedded components that support small UAS and UAVs - Developing, implementing, validating, and maintaining Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) software for autonomous vehicles - Constructing and supporting an automated Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) testing framework to exercise all components - Assisting with flight testing of UAS and UAVs, which involves setup, system checkouts, ground station support, log retrieval and analysis, and debugging
