Requirements
Must:
- Advanced expertise in Python (designing maintainable packages/services, using async patterns when useful, testing, packaging, dependency management)
- Practical experience in building API integrations (REST/GraphQL), managing authentication flows (OAuth2, JWT), and handling JSON/structured logs
- Proven DevOps skills: CI/CD pipelines, artifact versioning, release orchestration, and basic familiarity with containerization (Docker)
- Hands-on experience in at least two security/platform areas (e.g., SIEM/SOAR, endpoint/EDR, vulnerability management, email/data security, cloud security)
- Strong communication abilities with a history of delivering reliable automation that significantly enhances operations
- Degree or equivalent education with typically more than 10 years of relevant experience; fewer years required if holding a relevant Masters or Doctorate qualification
- Experience with Terraform or Ansible for provisioning/configuration (preferred)
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures (webhooks, message queues) and serverless environments (preferred)
- Experience in optimizing cost/throughput for data pipelines or security platform ingestion (preferred)
- Comfort with basic front-end development for internal self-service tools (e.g., lightweight UIs, ChatOps) (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Manage the automation roadmap to align with platform runbooks and quarterly goals; prioritize high-value use cases that minimize manual effort while improving speed and quality
- Design, implement, and sustain Python-driven playbooks, micro-services, and scripts for enhancement, decision-making, remediation, and evidence gathering
- Provide self-service functionalities (CLI/ChatOps/UI) that help platform teams and SOC/IR perform standardized actions safely and efficiently
- Create solid API integrations connecting security tools and enterprise systems (e.g., SIEM/SOAR, endpoint, vulnerability scanners, ticketing/ServiceNow, CMDB, identity protections, cloud services)
- Apply CI/CD workflows (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps/GitLab CI), manage environment promotion, oversee secrets management, and ensure rollback safety for automation code
- Introduce observability to automation processes (structured logging, metrics, traces, alerts); monitor playbook performance metrics, including success/failure rates, latency, and error budgets
- Act as a technical lead for automation projects; mentor engineers on Python, integration methodologies, and CI/CD practices
- Collaborate closely with SOC/IR, Platform Ops, Cloud/Infra, and GRC to ensure automation aligns with operational, resilience, and compliance objectives
