Requirements

Must:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or a related sector; alternatively, a 4-year degree with at least 1 year of relevant management experience; or a 2-year degree with 3 or more years of related management experience. - High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. - Stationary Engineers license as required by local regulations. - Proficiency in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance skills is essential. - Ability to work extended hours when necessary. - Capability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds consistently for lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling. - Occasionally required to travel for company-related business. - Maintain a consistently friendly and welcoming demeanor. - Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with employees and guests of all levels in a courteous, attentive, and service-oriented manner. - Proficient in listening, understanding, and addressing concerns from employees and guests. - Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental duties to meet deadlines. - Approach all interactions with employees and guests in a courteous and service-oriented way. - Attendance at all mandatory hotel meetings and training sessions is required. - Participation in Manager on Duty coverage as needed. - Consistent attendance in line with Highgate Hotel standards is essential, with scheduling variations based on hotel needs. - Uphold high standards in personal appearance and grooming, including wearing name tags. - Compliance with Highgate Hotel standards and regulations to promote safe and effective hotel operations. - Focus on productivity efforts, identify problem areas, and support in developing solutions. - Skillful in problem-solving, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and addressing issues as required. - Ability to analyze and interpret complex data from various sources to achieve relevant objectives. - Must ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.

Responsibilities

- Oversee and train all Engineering & Security personnel in customer service, empowerment, standard operating procedures, and loss prevention protocols. - Develop, approve, and manage Engineering & Security staff schedules in line with Highgate Hotel guidelines. - Formulate and adhere to the annual departmental budget. - Create financial forecasts and actively take part in monthly profit/loss discussions. - Design and execute strategies for maintaining property, equipment, grounds, and other assets in good condition. - Ensure that the hotel complies with all local, state, and federal regulations. - Establish and maintain a preventative maintenance program for hotel equipment. - Verify that all emergency and life safety equipment and systems are regularly inspected, tested, and certified according to Highgate Hotel standards. - Ensure prompt and courteous handling of room maintenance requests. - Immediately follow up on all alarms to ascertain exact location and cause, determine emergency status, and inform the Front Desk, taking necessary immediate actions. - Assist with special projects and renovations as required. - Be actively involved in energy conservation initiatives. - Review guest and meeting planner comment cards to identify and rectify issues in a timely fashion. - Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). - Manage all vendor contracts governed by the engineering department. - Support and engage in all Highgate Hotel initiatives. - Lead and participate in the Highgate Hotel Safety Committee.
