Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Over 7 years of experience as a full stack developer or in a comparable senior engineering position, demonstrating a strong record of ownership and delivery in production systems
- In-depth knowledge of HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Python, and SQL
- Proven experience in enhancing and modernizing existing codebases, including refactoring for maintainability and performance
- Strong capability in system design and making pragmatic architectural decisions
- Comfort in programming for scientific and mathematical applications
- Experience in designing and refining AI prompts and workflows, specifically for:
- Code generation and refactoring
- Test creation and validation
- Debugging and root-cause analysis
- Documentation and code comprehension
- Practical experience with AI-driven tools (e.g. Copilot, Claude) integrated into the development process
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools, automated testing frameworks, and contemporary DevOps practices
- Experience with deploying and managing applications on cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
- Knowledge of multivariate analysis or machine learning models is beneficial
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong technical judgment, and the ability to operate independently while collaborating across teams
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and creation of robust, user-oriented interfaces using modern front-end technologies (HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Angular, etc.)
- Architect and develop server-side logic, databases (SQL), and APIs, focusing on performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability
- Utilize Python extensively for back-end services, data workflows, and system integrations
- Take charge of evolving the existing codebase by simplifying abstractions and enhancing overall system clarity while delivering new functionalities
- Establish and uphold engineering best practices concerning code structure, testing, and deployment
- Design, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines to support reliable automated testing, building, and deployment
- Identify, debug, and resolve complex technical challenges to ensure system health and performance
- Actively use AI-assisted development tools (e.g. code generation, refactoring, test creation) to hasten delivery and elevate quality across the codebase
- Critically assess and refine AI-generated code to ensure correctness, security, performance, and conformity with system architecture
- Collaborate closely with product, operations, and leadership teams to translate business and scientific needs into scalable technical solutions
- Bridge development and operations by enhancing observability, deployment workflows, and operational reliability
