Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Understanding of RF/microwave design concepts, including transmission lines, waveguides, impedance matching, and antenna basics.
- Experience with RF testing equipment (spectrum analyzer, VNA, signal generator, power meter).
- Familiarity with satellite communications or space RF payload development.
- Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (preferred).
- Over 2 years of experience in space RF system design, analysis, or testing (preferred).
- Proficiency in RF simulation software such as HFSS, ADS, CST, MATLAB, or Simulink.
- Experience with Earth-Space Antennas (ESAs), phased arrays, reflectors, or electronically steered antennas.
- Knowledge of communication system design, modulation schemes, coding, and link budgets.
- Basic understanding of radiation, thermal, and reliability constraints for space-qualified hardware.
- Practical experience with antenna testing in anechoic chambers.
- Strong verbal communication skills to relay technical concepts to leadership and clients.
Responsibilities
- Design, model, and analyze RF systems for space applications, including Earth-Space Antennas (ESAs), phased array antennas, transponders, transmitters, and receivers.
- Conduct link budget analyses for Earth-to-Space, Space-to-Earth, and inter-satellite communications.
- Assist with RF payload architecture evaluations, focusing on optimizations for power, bandwidth, gain, and coverage.
- Develop and validate RF hardware performance utilizing simulation tools (HFSS, ADS, CST, MATLAB) and laboratory/field testing devices (spectrum analyzers, VNAs, anechoic chamber measurements).
- Work alongside antenna engineering teams to design, test, and integrate reflector and phased-array antennas.
- Define and verify requirements to ensure adherence to mission performance benchmarks, environmental standards, and radiation conditions.
- Document technical findings and present results during internal design reviews and to external stakeholders.
