Requirements
Must:
We require candidates to possess in-scope polygraph clearance within the past 7 years. A solid background in PostgreSQL and PostGIS is essential. Strong SQL skills with experience in performance tuning and query optimization, along with proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and command-line interface tools such as psql, are needed. Familiarity with logical and physical replication, partitioning, and backup strategies is also necessary. Experience with monitoring tools like pg_stat_statements, Prometheus, and Grafana is desired, along with knowledge of scripting languages for automation tasks. Additionally, it would be a plus to have experience in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes), understanding of cloud platforms (AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL, or Azure Database for PostgreSQL), and insight into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible). Exposure to other relational database management systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL) or NoSQL systems is advantageous.
Responsibilities
As part of your role, you will be expected to design and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas, indexes, and queries to enhance performance and scalability. You will also monitor and fine-tune database performance utilizing both native tools and custom scripts. Implementing and managing high availability (HA) and replication strategies is crucial. Collaboration with developers to refine complex queries and stored procedures will be part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will automate routine tasks using scripting languages such as Bash or Python and document database architectures, processes, and best practices.
