Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in a STEM-related field with at least 10 years of professional experience
- Approximately 5 years of experience in developing and utilizing modeling and simulation software in diverse, multi-platform settings
- Familiarity with HPC user workflows for modeling/simulation issues and GUIs
- Knowledge of High Performance Computing (HPC) environments and associated technologies
- Proven skills in Fortran, C, and/or C++
- Strong proficiency in BASH and Korn
- Competency in the Linux Operating System with the ability to independently resolve end-user system challenges within a lab setting
- Understanding of fundamental software practices such as coding standards, unit testing, and configuration management
- Capability to analyze, debug, and maintain existing code integrity
- Experience in designing and delivering educational workshops, tutorials, or onboarding materials for HPC users and internal teams
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with a CI Polygraph to commence work
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Technical User Support (TUS) team to enhance user experiences and accelerate time to science
- Engage with users to port, optimize, and parallelize their codes according to specific needs
- Provide mentorship to junior team members, offering technical advice, conducting code reviews, and facilitating career development discussions
- Create and conduct training sessions, tutorials, and documentation that enable users and internal personnel to effectively adopt HPC tools and coding standards
- Participate on-site with a dedicated customer, focusing on their workflow, modeling, simulation, and data needs while working alongside the program Chief Scientist and TUS team lead
- Conduct system performance evaluations including benchmarking and tuning libraries, concentrating on scientific modeling, numerical processes, and broader software challenges
- Investigate and resolve user code and HPC software issues, utilizing best practices to leverage HPC resources, research storage systems, and secure computing environments
- Assist users in adapting to a production shared resource, its scheduling system, and high-performance data storage solutions
