Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Hold a DoD 8570/8140 approved IAT II certification, minimum: CompTIA Security+ (or an equivalent credential such as CEH, CISSP, etc.)
- Proven experience leading engineering teams or projects, ideally in an Agile/Scrum setting.
- Hands-on knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Packer, Terraform, Helm, or Argo CD (or similar platforms).
- Proficient with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g. Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes), source control systems (GitLab), CI/CD pipeline design, and automated testing frameworks (e.g. pytest, JUnit, Selenium, etc.).
- Strong programming and automation proficiency in interpreted languages and shell scripting (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Direct experience integrating secure software methodologies (e.g. static (SAST) and dynamic (DAST) analysis) into various codebases (e.g. C++, Java, Python, etc.).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (or higher) within 6 months of hiring.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with engineering program managers, software engineers, and cybersecurity development leads to translate mission requirements into technological solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain cybersecurity-focused software solutions that meet critical mission needs.
- Guide engineering teams through the complete software lifecycle: requirements gathering, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and continuous enhancement.
- Implement version-controlled Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps methodologies (Ansible, Packer, Terraform, Helm, Argo CD) to create reproducible environments.
- Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub Workflows) utilizing containerization (Docker) and automated testing frameworks.
- Employ secure development practices, including static/dynamic analysis, dependency scanning, and STIG/SRG hardening, for C, C++, Java, and Python codebases.
- Conceptualize AI-enhanced solutions that automate RMF processes, support continuous monitoring, and generate understandable risk metrics in line with NIST AI RMF and DoD governance standards.
- Conduct threat modeling (STRIDE/ATT&CK), vulnerability assessments, risk evaluations, and devise mitigation strategies aligned with RMF controls.
- Generate Software Assurance Evaluation Reports (SAERs), prepare Basis of Estimates (BoE) for proposals, and author technical whitepapers.
- Assess emerging AI/ML strategies (NLP, computer vision, generative AI, predictive modeling) for relevance to mission requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in DevSecOps, code quality, and performance optimization.
