$135,000 - 135,000
Requirements
Must:
We value a strong software engineering background in fields like Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related disciplines. Ideally, you should have at least five years of professional development experience, primarily focused on speech processing, natural language processing (NLP), or transcription systems. Proficiency in Python is essential, along with comfort in system-level programming when required. Experience with automatic speech recognition (ASR) frameworks (such as Whisper, Kaldi, Vosk, NVIDIA NeMo, or comparable) is expected. Familiarity with audio engineering tools (for instance, ffmpeg, Sox) and techniques for denoising and voice enhancement is desirable. You should possess knowledge of speaker diarization, speaker recognition, and the challenges of multi-language ASR. Proficiency in data analysis and wrangling (using tools like Pandas, NumPy, Jupyter) to assess model performance is important, as well as having a grasp of cloud deployment and basic DevOps practices (like Docker, Kubernetes, serverless workloads). Comfort in fast-paced environments that require quick iterations and dynamic objectives is essential. You must demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, make informed trade-offs, and deliver results with little supervision.
Responsibilities
In this role, I will lead initiatives to enhance transcription quality by assessing, testing, and fine-tuning ASR models, including both commercially available APIs and open-source options. I will build pipelines that manage speaker identification, diarization, multi-language support, and robust transcription in challenging audio spaces. I'll develop and maintain services that integrate various ASR providers, ensuring resilience and adaptability across transcription workflows. Collaborating with platform engineers will be key to guaranteeing seamless ingestion and persistence of transcription outputs in our data pipelines. I will engage in data wrangling and exploratory analysis to gain a deep understanding of transcription accuracy and error patterns. Exploring and implementing audio engineering techniques (like denoising, voice isolation, codecs, and signal processing) to enhance speech clarity will also be a focus. I’ll deploy and maintain transcription-related services with fundamental DevOps practices, ensuring scalability and reliability. Participation in all phases of the development lifecycle, including ideation, design, prototyping, implementation, deployment, and iteration, will be essential.
