Requirements

Must:
- Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program and pursuing a Bachelors degree in computer science or a related technical field. - Experience with systems software or algorithms. - Proficiency in modern object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python). Experience coding in Java, C/C++, Perl, PHP, GO, or Python. - Strong communication abilities with experience working collaboratively across cross-functional teams. - Availability to work full-time, 40 hours per week. - Demonstrated software engineering experience through internships, work experience, or coding competitions (preferred). - Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., code generation, model analysis, or experiment planning) is a plus. - Proven creativity and strong problem-solving skills is desirable. - Research or work experience in machine learning infrastructure is advantageous. - Experience with technologies such as Hadoop/Hbase/Pig or Mapreduce/Sawzall/Bigtable. - Experience with distributed systems (e.g., Spark, Ray, Kubernetes, Slurm). - Knowledge of scheduling algorithms, orchestration, or compute is beneficial. - Intent to return to degree program after the internship, with graduation planned between December 2026 and August 2027.

Responsibilities

- Assist in developing and optimizing our AV ML infrastructure by enhancing data processing pipelines and scheduling. - Accelerate model training and inference workflows while improving testing frameworks like Carbench/HIL. - Support the creation of tools, instrumentation, and system monitoring to increase reliability and reduce latency. - Generate scalable infrastructure and tools to facilitate model training, regression, and inference operations. - Recommend, gather, and integrate requirements to formulate an effective feature roadmap. - Collaborate with the engineering team to deliver code outputs. - Adapt standard machine learning methodologies to effectively leverage modern parallel environments (e.g., distributed clusters, multicore SMP, and GPU). - Undertake specific tasks that vary based on team needs.
