Requirements

Must:
- A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, Information Technology (IT), Cyber Security, or a related field. Additional years of experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree. - A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in incident detection, response, and remediation (or a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of professional experience). - At least 3 years of specialized experience (5 preferred) in areas such as: - Email security - Digital media forensics - Monitoring and detection - Incident Response - Vulnerability assessment and penetration testing - Cyber intelligence analysis - Extensive experience analyzing and synthesizing information with other relevant data sources and providing guidance and mentorship in cyber threat analysis and operations. - Strong collaboration skills to identify, assess, and resolve complex security issues with technical staff and customers. - Up-to-date knowledge of the latest threat intelligence, security trends, tools, and capabilities. - Strong problem-solving abilities with an analytical mindset. - Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks independently with little to no supervision.

Responsibilities

- I will utilize state-of-the-art technologies such as Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) tools, log analysis (Splunk), and network forensics for investigative activities. - I will monitor alerting channels for multiple endpoint and network tools and escalate alerts according to defined processes, procedures, and playbooks. - I will triage alerts to determine the nature of activity on customer networks, systems, servers, and mobile devices. - I will conduct log analysis to support incident response efforts. - I will recognize attacker and APT activity, aggregate indicators of compromise (IOCs), and improve monitoring and incident response. - I will develop security content, scripts, and tools to enhance incident investigation processes. - I will lead incident response activities and mentor junior SOC staff. - I will create detailed reports for customer leadership, emphasizing accuracy and timely data for briefings. - I will effectively communicate technical details and findings to stakeholders and customers. - I will work with key stakeholders to implement remediation plans in response to incidents. - I will identify root cause findings and communicate them to technical staff and leadership. - I will ensure effective communication with customer leadership regarding critical incidents.

Description

- Preferred qualifications include the ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with team leads and government personnel, experience with detection engineering efforts, and familiarity with the Cyber Kill Chain and MITRE ATT&CK framework. - Required certifications include one or more of the following: CompTIA Cyber Security Analyst (CySA+), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CompTIA Linux Network Professional (CLNP), CompTIA Pentest+, various other certifications indicating expertise in cyber security. - All Department of Homeland Security CBP SOC employees are required to favorably pass a 5-year Background Investigation. - The pay range for this position is $85,150.00 - $153,925.00, subject to considerations such as job responsibilities, experience, and market data.
