Requirements
Must:
- I have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline or equivalent experience/combined education, with 8+ years of professional experience; or 6+ years of professional experience with a related master's degree.
- I possess a Security+ certification or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT II certification, which I will obtain within 14 days of my start date.
- I have experience leading solution design and architecture development for a complex cloud-based system.
- I am experienced in designing, developing, and delivering data-driven operations capabilities within a DoD environment.
- I am familiar with Process Mapping.
- I have 4+ years of systems engineering experience, which includes developing requirements traceability for software systems (RVTM), writing systems engineering documents (SDP, etc.), and developing software interface documents (IDDs/ICDs).
- I have experience working with the Linux operating system, including related operating system commands.
- I am knowledgeable about web services APIs, including REST.
- I can identify and track related project task dependencies, risks, and possible mitigations.
- I have experience estimating the level of effort (hrs./days/resources) to create a project plan and schedule.
- I thrive in a highly technical team environment and have experience working in a fast-paced setting.
- I am skilled in project management and configuration management tools such as JIRA, Xray, Confluence, and Git.
- I possess strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, systems engineers, and architects.
- I can prioritize work to meet fixed deadlines.
- I am willing and able to travel periodically as needed.
- I have experience collaborating in cross-discipline teams with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- I will develop technical approaches, solutions, and systems for innovations that best meet business needs.
- I will design and oversee the implementation of solutions throughout the lifecycle to ensure they meet the needs of stakeholders.
- I will provide recommendations and alternatives for solutions and create solution prototypes.
- I will take part in technology selection and analyze the technology environment and constraints.
- I will develop roadmaps for the solutions.
- I will act as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- I will collaborate with process owners, technical leads, and a variety of process stakeholders to refine solutions, designs, processes, and approaches.
- I will employ solution architecture and systems engineering principles, processes, methods, models, artifacts, and tools for analysis, problem evaluation/diagnosis, and solution design across a variety of Systems Engineering/Architecture activities.
- I will work closely with end-users, software engineers, data engineers, testers, cloud engineers, network engineers, and information assurance teams.
- I will utilize a systems engineering approach for systems planning, design, execution, and sustainment.
- I will define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, and input/output parameters for hardware and software compatibility.
- I will assist in developing and maintaining systems engineering documentation and diagrams/models.
- I will lead the development of business process maps using a standardized methodology and toolset.
- I will provide measurable input to new solutions, processes, or standards to achieve functional/project objectives.
- I will collaborate with colleagues to monitor and report technical variances and facilitate resolution of technical issues impacting successful product delivery.
- I will quickly adapt to customer environments and adopt their processes.
- I will author and execute user acceptance strategies, plans, and scripts for the innovations' deployment.
- I will support the resolution of technical challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
- I will employ exceptional problem-solving, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- I will support or lead business proposal responses as required.
Description
The Digital Modernization sector within our company has an opening for a Systems Engineer/Architect for the Global Solution Management – Operations II (GSM-O II) contract. This contract encompasses the operations, sustainment, maintenance, repair, and defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) within the DOD Information Network (DODIN) in support of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). It also includes support for DISA's operational mission transformation through innovation, as well as support for its mission partners.
This position is located virtually in the Ft. Meade, MD or Scott AFB, IL area. I require that my employees reside within driving distance of Fort Meade or Scott AFB to be in the office as needed.
As a Systems Engineer/Architect, I will be responsible for the functional and technical design of solutions within the Global Management System (GMS) Innovations portfolio. This includes leading the technical design of solution components and developing system and technical requirements in support of customer-facing capabilities in a data-driven, AI-ready, cloud-based environment. As a member of the GMS team, I will work as part of a fast-paced, Agile environment to create solution designs and manage requirements across multiple GMS innovation portfolios.
I will engage in developing an understanding of existing processes, followed by designing innovative technical solutions to improve network reliability, security, performance, and agility. My role will involve deriving and authoring functional, technical, performance, security, and availability requirements in a continuous innovation process that leverages feedback from measuring deployed capabilities against key success metrics.
Additionally, I will work with a team to ensure successful testing and verification of new capabilities prior to deployment. I will demonstrate strong deductive reasoning, attention to detail, persistence, patience, and creativity throughout this process.
