Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain USCENTCOM's cybersecurity infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption technologies.
- Research and evaluate new cybersecurity applications and technologies to enhance the organization's security posture.
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to design and implement new cybersecurity solutions.
- Configure and deploy cybersecurity tools to protect USCENTCOM's enterprise, which consists of more than 5,000 users, 1,000 servers, and 10,000 endpoints.
- Analyze security alerts and incidents and take appropriate action to mitigate risks.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and end-users.
- Stay up to date with the latest cybersecurity trends and threats.
- Develop and maintain documentation for implemented solutions.
- Participate in security audits and compliance activities.
- Tune system performance and maintain system documentation.
- Interact with end-users and evaluate vendor products to develop functional requirements for enhancements and changes.
- Interface with third-party vendors for troubleshooting calls.
- Schedule, plan, and oversee system upgrades.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and remediate a variety of security systems issues which may not have previously documented solutions.
- Review and prepare documentation for systems, tests, and process guides.
- Support projects for a variety of initiatives to enhance the efficiency, capability, or security of the environment.
- Collaborate with other enterprise IT teams to address operational requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior administrators and team members.
- Produce various data sets and informational packets to management to support ongoing efforts for process improvements.
Description
We are actively looking for a highly skilled Cybersecurity Engineer with a strong background in cybersecurity research and implementation. This position is full-time and is based on-site at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida. We engage in various cybersecurity initiatives to enhance our infrastructure, and the role entails significant engagement with both internal teams and external vendors.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- ITIL 4 Foundation Certification
- Experience with the USCENTCOM environment and/or familiarity with its mission
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and industry standards.
- Experience working in cross-functional IT teams and projects.
- Proven experience in systems administration and infrastructure management in Windows/Linux environments.
- Demonstrated experience in researching and implementing new cybersecurity applications and technologies.
- Ability to review, modify, and prepare comprehensive documentation for systems integrations to facilitate project transfers into operations.
- Experience with cybersecurity tools and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption technologies.
- Experience building and maintaining virtual servers and appliances to support security tool deployments, expansions, and implementations.
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with specific security tools such as: ForeScout, Splunk, Tychon, Elastic, Trellix, Swimlane/SOAR, etc.
- Experience building cybersecurity solutions in the cloud and/or as a container.
- Experience coding/scripting in Python/PowerShell.
Travel Requirements:
Required USCENTCOM Exercise support of up to 10% travel during the year to OCONUS locations.
