Requirements
Must:
- TS/SCI with Poly clearance required.
- A total of 16 years of experience, which can be a combination of work history and education. This includes:
- Doctorate with 8 years of experience
- Master’s degree with 10 years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of experience
- Associate's degree with 14 years of experience
- High School diploma with 16 years of experience
- Must comply with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 (Security+ CE).
- Experience in network engineering, including Tier III or higher network operations and/or design and implementation.
- Prior responsibility for production network hardware configurations for Cisco, Brocade, and/or Juniper.
- Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting standard routing protocols in a production network such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) or Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
- Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting standard switching and trunking protocols in a production network, including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), 802.1q, and port channels.
Responsibilities
- I will interpret customer requirements and apply standard design approaches for service delivery. I will fully document designs with diagrams, bill of materials, cabling sheets, configurations, and other supporting documents.
- I will use our private test lab to evaluate new technologies, test proposed changes to production networks, and recreate troubleshooting scenarios to support the production enterprise network.
- I will schedule maintenance windows for migrating user connections from legacy to modern infrastructure transition services with minimal impact on critical data flows.
- I will provide technical expertise to Operations engineers and technicians, supporting fault isolation and resolution, and I will solve complex problems with innovative and scalable solutions.
- I will develop secure network designs, including configurations that align with Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and enterprise policies, and I will obtain Authority to Operate (ATO) for new devices, software, and capabilities.
- I will supervise (not manage) other network support specialists to plan, coordinate, and implement network services.
- I will develop and improve design products, processes, and systems to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
- While my primary focus will be on CAN/LAN, this position also offers opportunities to learn and work on Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Wide Area Networks (WANs).
Description
- I am looking for candidates with network engineering and design experience specific to CAN/LAN, including the application of industry standards, development of configurations, and integration of solutions into production environments.
- Experience with MPLS WANs, network management tools, and firewalls is desired.
- Expert knowledge of routing and switching protocols is important, with extensive BGP experience being a significant plus.
- A Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or equivalent knowledge is preferred.
- I value initiative and the ability to work unsupervised as part of a network engineering team, as well as experience in establishing processes, developing documentation, and organizing repositories.
- Pay Range: The pay range for this position is $87,100.00 - $157,450.00. This range serves as a general guideline and is not a guarantee of compensation, as factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, and market alignment will be considered in extending an offer.
