Must:
- I have a Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 1+ years of relevant experience. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- I possess working knowledge of Python and bash scripting, C++, and OOP/OOAD.
- I can obtain a Public Trust clearance (US citizenship required).
- I develop solutions to technical issues impacting multiple areas or disciplines.
- I regularly employ ingenuity and creativity to help develop new technical solutions and systems to achieve functional objectives.
- I communicate effectively with internal team members across multiple areas and with client team members.
- I assist in influencing project/team leaders regarding solution design, processes, and approaches.
- I have knowledge of and the ability to apply technical principles, theories, and concepts.
- I understand data structures, algorithms, and software design solutions.
- I am knowledgeable in memory management, multicore processors, and distributed systems design.
Responsibilities
- I design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable C++ code using good OOP/OOAD techniques for our systems.
- I optimize, identify bottlenecks, bugs, and devise solutions to problems, including maintaining code quality, revision control, and organization.
- I analyze customer issues, identify and implement solutions, and participate and contribute within a defined software development process.
- I may need to travel occasionally to customer sites, which may be domestic or international.
- I participate in the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs for enhancements and new software-intensive systems and products. I apply appropriate principles, standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle. My duties include software requirements analysis, analysis of hardware compatibility, and the development of software products and tools used for the design, development, and maintenance of infrastructure and platforms.

I am part of Leidos’ Security Enterprise Solutions (SES) operation, where I join a cross-functional engineering team dedicated to using cutting-edge technology to develop innovative solutions that enhance the safety, health, and efficiency of global travel and trade. As a Software Engineer (C++), I collaborate with expert Scientists and Engineers to contribute to products that have a worldwide impact on security detection. This role allows me to refine my engineering skills in embedded products, real-time programming, and object-oriented design, all within a supportive management environment focused on my professional growth. Our team has developed various integrated solutions for aviation, ports, borders, and critical infrastructure customers globally. We provide automated threat detection for a range of items by leveraging industry-leading screening technologies, AI/ML capabilities, and advanced biometric tools. Currently, we have over 24,000 products deployed across 120 countries, including best-in-class security checkpoint and inspection systems for people and baggage. Pay Range: The pay range for this position is between $65,000.00 - $117,500.00. This range is a general guideline and is not a guarantee of compensation. Additional factors, including job responsibilities, education, experience, and skills, will be considered in extending an offer, alongside market data and internal equity.
