Senior Software Safety Engineer

- I require a candidate with at least a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, or an equivalent technical degree. - I prefer candidates to have 8+ years of relevant technical experience or 6+ years of experience with a Master’s degree. - A basic competency in real-time safety or mission-critical software systems development using languages such as C, C++, or Ada is essential. - Proven experience with software safety standards including NASA Standards (NASA-STD-8719.13C, NASA-STD-8739.8, NPR 7150.2C, NASA-HDBK-4008), MIL-STD-882E, AMCOM-385-17, MIL-HDK-516B, RTCA DO-178C, or ISO 26262 is required. - Software safety experience on DoD and NASA programs is preferred; however, software safety experience in civil aviation, nuclear, automotive, or medical industries will be considered. - Strong analytical skills along with a personal drive for detail and quality workmanship are a must. - Candidates should demonstrate an aptitude for the technical skills required for software safety, including understanding systems and the results of potential system failures. - Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is necessary. - Proven leadership skills and the ability to persuade on technical topics are also important. - I value self-motivated individuals who pay attention to details and can work under deadlines. - Candidates must show a pattern of ethical decisions and a commitment to integrity that conforms to our Code of Ethics. - I need candidates who are residents of or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area. - Candidates must be U.S. Citizens and possess (or be eligible to obtain) a Final Secret Clearance.
