Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with 8+ years of pertinent experience or a Masters degree with 6+ years of relevant experience
- Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming
- Expertise in C, C++, and/or Ada (Ada is preferred but not mandatory)
- Experience with developing real-time, multi-threaded systems
- Familiarity with Linux (Red Hat), virtual machines, and hypervisors
- Familiarity with low-level communication protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SCTP)
- Background in hardware or complex system integration
- Experience with source control and configuration management systems
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working autonomously and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Practical experience using AI coding tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar
- Familiarity with large language model platforms (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini)
- Experience creating effective prompts and validating AI-generated outputs
- Understanding of responsible AI usage and human-in-the-loop development methodologies
- Ability to assess AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, safety, and bias in high-stakes environments
- Experience incorporating AI and machine learning approaches into software engineering processes
- Experience with automated testing frameworks
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software for real-time, high-availability systems
- Employ AI-assisted development resources to streamline coding, refactoring, debugging, and automated testing
- Utilize AI throughout the software development lifecycle — including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, documentation, and code reviews
- Examine complex system requirements and convert them into effective and maintainable designs
- Create and manage automation scripts across development, testing, and production settings
- Foster code quality, reusability, traceability, and collaboration across teams
