We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications: - A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience) along with 12+ years of relevant expertise. Additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. - A minimum of 7 years in platform engineering, infrastructure management, or a related technical domain, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity. - Proficiency in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and familiarity with multi-cloud setups. - Experience with containerization technologies (such as Docker and Kubernetes) and orchestration. - Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible. - Strong background in implementing CI/CD pipelines (such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, etc.). - Comprehensive understanding of networking, storage, and compute resources in both cloud and on-premises settings. - Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk). - Knowledge of Linux/Unix and/or Windows server administration and performance optimization. - Proven experience leading and mentoring engineering teams, promoting knowledge sharing, and fostering a collaborative work atmosphere. - Strong problem-solving skills, capable of analyzing complex platform issues and delivering effective resolutions. - Understanding of security best practices related to cloud platforms and infrastructure. - Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, able to convey complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Capability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and deliver solutions within established timelines.

Responsibilities

As our Platform Engineer Technical Lead, your key duties will include: - Leading the design and implementation of robust platform solutions with a focus on scalability, performance, and security. - Collaborating with architects and various stakeholders to define platform strategies, ensuring they align with business objectives and technical specifications. - Assessing and recommending new platform technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance performance and cost-effectiveness. - Creating and implementing cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and ensuring smooth integration with internal systems and applications. - Driving the automation of infrastructure provisioning and management using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet. - Establishing and upholding CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments and minimize manual intervention in platform management. - Ensuring the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices for consistency and repeatability in deployments. - Leading and mentoring a team of platform engineers, offering technical guidance and aiding in their professional development. - Managing and prioritizing tasks within the team, ensuring timely project delivery and effective resource management. - Overseeing cloud infrastructure, including the provisioning, monitoring, and scaling of cloud resources (compute, storage, networking). - Collaborating with DevOps teams to integrate platform solutions with automated deployment pipelines and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes). - Developing and maintaining thorough documentation for platform architecture, configurations, and procedures. - Working closely with other engineering teams (DevOps, software, network, security) to ensure platform solutions meet application and infrastructure needs. - Conveying technical solutions and strategies to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment on platform objectives and expectations. - Providing technical leadership and support for ongoing projects, ensuring platform solutions meet both business and technical standards.

Description

Leidos is in search of a Platform Engineer Technical Lead to assist in a major program for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). The Antitrust Division of the DOJ enforces federal antitrust laws and promotes fair competition in the market. In this role, you will supervise the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-level platform solutions. Your responsibilities will include managing cloud infrastructure, on-premise environments, and containerized applications. As a subject-matter expert (SME), you will be instrumental in applying best practices, enhancing performance, ensuring security measures, and leading the engineering team. The ideal candidate will apply their knowledge of infrastructure automation, DevOps, cloud technologies, and platform architecture to create systems that are resilient, scalable, and manageable. This position is based onsite in the DC area. Desirable skills include certifications in relevant cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect), experience with microservices architecture, familiarity with Agile methodologies, and knowledge of serverless technologies (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions). Experience in enterprise-scale platform engineering and working with large-scale, high-availability systems is also beneficial.
