Requirements
Must:
- I require proficient knowledge of various network hardware equipment specifications, configuration and testing processes, and industry standards.
- I expect you to have experience in network engineering, problem management, and performance management.
- You should possess knowledge of networking architecture, along with the ability to evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance current capabilities and perform needs assessments.
- A solid understanding of data and voice network design is essential, including various transmission systems, router-to-router connections using military and commercial protocols like BGP and ISIS, switch-to-switch trunking including VLANs, and circuit configurations through multiplexers.
- Experience with network services (BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VLAN, VRF, etc.) and network appliances (such as routers, load balancers, domain name servers, firewalls) is necessary.
- I need you to have knowledge of configuring, activating, testing, and analyzing network systems.
- You must be capable of working within a team environment while being self-motivated to complete assignments and continuously improve your knowledge of processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication, team-building, and collaboration skills are a must.
- An active Secret security clearance is required.
- A DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) is necessary.
Responsibilities
- I will task you with performing customer coordination, Initial Test and Acceptance (IT&A), executing all reporting functions, and completing data input related to new network equipment and service activations, ensuring implementation in line with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) standards.
- You will configure and maintain DISA’s out-of-band management network, which includes Cisco and Juniper devices, using baseline configurations tailored for each site.
- You are to upgrade software on Cisco and Juniper devices.
- I expect you to create or update project planning documentation to support the selection and creation of IP addressing schemes (subnet selection, equipment management IP selection) and assigning ports on out-of-band management nodes.
- Performing systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional requirements in support of customer resources will be part of your duties.
- Ensuring all information (POC, location, & interface) is accurate and properly formatted according to provided requirements is crucial.
- You will verify correct points of contact (POC) for each location through which the circuit traverses.
- Engaging with DISA project managers and/or customers to resolve issues with incomplete or unclear requirements is necessary.
- I expect you to liaise with stakeholders and facilitate approvals as needed to ensure continual advancement of the service request.
Description
Our organization, the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), provides, operates, and guarantees command and control of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) services to customers within the Department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations. This position directly supports the capabilities and services provided by DISA. We are offering an opportunity for an Implementations Network Engineer III at Scott AFB, IL, as part of the Leidos Digital Modernization Sector/Global Solutions Management-Operations II (GSMO-II) contract. The individual in this role will oversee installation, configuration, testing, monitoring, servicing of network equipment, and the activation of networks for projects supporting the Department of Defense networks. This role requires U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance. We are looking for candidates who do not conform to the norm but rather strive to innovate and improve processes.
