Requirements

Must:
- I need a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (preferred) with 12-15 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 10-13 years of experience. Additional years of directly relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. - I require a network certification that meets or exceeds a CCNP (comparable vendor certification will be considered upon review), with a CCIE preferred. - You must possess an active DoD IAT Level II (i.e., Security+) certification or equivalent before starting. It is essential to have broad exposure to typical IT infrastructure networking, particularly in LAN, WAN, TCP/UDP, Dual stack IPv4/IPv6, IPSec, VPN, and Micro-segmentation Firewalls. - Experience with two or more of the following vendor network technologies is essential: Cisco, Juniper, F5, Aruba, Palo Alto, Dell, Brocade, and Fortinet. - You should have experience with SD-WAN solutions, preferably with Dell Versa, as well as experience working with Azure and AWS cloud networking. - It is important that you have experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Python scripting, CI/CD pipeline, and Terraform to construct an Infrastructure as Code framework. - You should have familiarity with AAA servers like Cisco ISE or Aruba Clearpass and endpoint posturing, along with experience in Enterprise Wireless. - Familiarity with Type 1 encryptors and Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) is beneficial. - Technical documentation skills using drawing tools like Visio, PowerPoint, or MagicDraw to depict IT applications and infrastructure are required. - I expect you to have experience conducting technical troubleshooting to resolve issues, conducting site surveys, and analyzing data obtained from these surveys. - Experience in creating or executing migration plans for circuits, network traffic, services, applications, or data is necessary. Alternatively, you should have experience planning or executing technology refreshes or lifecycle refreshes of existing IT systems. - Demonstrating experience in designing and implementing medium to large network infrastructure, along with producing corresponding technical documentation, is crucial. - You must be capable of working in a team to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues and have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting SOPs and technical documentation. - You need the ability to communicate with executive leadership regarding matters significant to the organization/project, as well as to present designs and plans to technical leadership for approval.

Responsibilities

- I will expect you to plan and design secure network solutions that consolidate connectivity services under an enterprise framework. - You will be responsible for designing secure wide-area connectivity that includes underlay, overlay, and COI transport design, ensuring adherence to performance, quality of service, security, and mission requirements. - You need to develop secure access solutions that leverage wired and wireless technologies, integrating standards and use cases/scenarios, and formulate implementation and transition plans. - Integrating capacity planning and scaling of network and security stack environments into the overarching design of solutions will be part of your role. - I expect you to collect, investigate, and identify network optimization strategies and techniques to meet capacity and performance benchmarks. - You should identify legacy service paths (i.e., dataflow, firewall rulesets, and ACLs) and design strategies for the future enterprise service capability, balancing security, sustainability, and maintainability. - You will support the development of IP addressing schemes across IPv4 and IPv6 networks. - Collaborating with information assurance teams to ensure compliance with DoD standards to aid in providing accreditation artifacts is necessary.

The Network Engineer/Architect Subject Matter Expert that I seek will support the design of modernized and upgraded capabilities for DTRA, working on a large-scale migration and operations for a prominent DOD contract. This position entails tech requirement definition, feasibility studies, pilot projects, and implementation plans, in addition to diagnosing and troubleshooting outages, monitoring systems, and developing proactive mitigation strategies. Experience with SD-WAN solutions and transforming from a Non-SDWAN setup is crucial. Familiarity with Cloud-native SDN, Software Defined Access, and EVPN for on-premise applications is required. Moreover, I expect you to have experience in a DevSecOps environment for creating and refining new solutions. An active Top Secret security clearance is necessary, and U.S. citizenship is required. The salary range for this position is $80,600.00 - $145,700.00. Please note, this pay range is a general guideline only and does not guarantee compensation or salary.
