Requirements
Must:
- I have experience designing, implementing, and maintaining multi-network transport.
- I possess skills in configuring and deploying Cisco series LAN/WAN switches, routers, firewalls, optical networks, and Intrusion Prevention/Intrusion Detection devices.
- I have network troubleshooting expertise with protocols such as VoIP, ATM, SONET, MPLS, L3VPN, L2VPN, QoS, MP-BGP, OSPF, VPLS, GRE, and L2/L3 multicast.
- I have experience supervising others.
- I am capable of working both independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines with changing priorities.
- I can mentor and lead a technical team, including functional management of direct reports.
- I demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and can effectively collaborate with contractors and government personnel, including briefing government leadership.
- I meet, at a minimum, the DoD 8570.11- IAT Level II certification requirements (currently holding Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP, along with an appropriate computing environment certification).
- I hold an active Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
Responsibilities
- I will devise solutions to intricate operational challenges within the capabilities and operational confines of installed equipment.
- I will research, assess, and recommend new computer network equipment and emerging technologies.
- I will develop and execute contingency plans for network software and hardware failures, including both isolated and major outages.
- I will utilize various tools for monitoring, performance analysis, network management, software, and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and identify problems, assess network performance, and track data and protocol activity.
- I will execute these functions across a diverse range of network facilities, encompassing physical media, protocol stacks, hubs, routers, bridges, gateways, digital servers, line drivers, telecommunications transport facilities, NCP and related software/hardware, as well as network management components.
- I will provide support metrics and reports to leadership.
- I will assist leadership in planning schedules and ensure adequate personnel coverage for support activities.
- I will evaluate resumes for vacancies and play a vital role during candidate interviews.
- I will manage work assignments for my team, review, and assign customer incidents, requirements, and tasks within the ServiceNow ITSM ticketing platform.
- I will oversee work performance for team members, offer periodic feedback, and document performance against employee goals and corporate guidelines.
- I will review and approve timesheets for assigned team members, ensuring compliance with corporate standards.
- I will maintain flexibility in my work schedule, committing to a standard 8-hour workday, but being ready to assist with troubleshooting during outages.
