Requirements
Must:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.
- Experience using requirement database tool(s) such as DOORS or Cameo Systems Modeler.
- Demonstrated understanding of the top-down systems engineering process for architecture development and bottoms-up verification.
- Knowledge of deriving requirements for complex systems.
- Knowledge of defining system interdependencies and interfaces.
- Experience effectively collaborating and communicating within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience working within an Agile environment or equivalent.
- Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
- Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
Responsibilities
As a Software Systems Engineer, I will support systems engineering needs throughout the software lifecycle of complex software systems. My tasks will include:
- Supporting verification and traceability of deliverables to software requirements.
- Assisting in the development of verification plans and process improvements.
- Developing and maintaining a clear understanding of overall system interdependencies and interfaces.
- Deriving software requirements with traceability to system requirements.
- Implementing creative solutions to ensure program requirements are upheld.
- Identifying, mitigating, and resolving risks.

Leidos Defense Sector is seeking a talented Software Systems Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team within a matrixed organization. We focus on creating unique solutions for complex problems, specifically regarding missile defense systems. Our offices span across the United States, engaging in defense, space, cyber, and commercial fields, as we provide responsive and cost-effective engineering, scientific, and IT solutions. While we prefer candidates who have experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering methodologies, particularly modeling in Cameo Systems Modeler using SysML, and knowledge of DoD acquisition processes and software engineering throughout the software lifecycle, this is not mandatory.
