Description

The Maritime Systems Division at Leidos is on the lookout for a skilled software/firmware engineer with a solid background in software architecture, design, implementation, and integration of real-time systems. We value a versatile engineer who has experience implementing software development solutions for Field Programmable Gate Arrays, Digital Signal Processors, workstations, virtual machines, and dedicated processor cards. In this role, the primary focus will be on modifying existing firmware as well as creating new firmware. A successful applicant should have experience developing using VHDL and C++ in a real-time setting, with additional knowledge of continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines and other programming languages being advantageous. I prefer candidates who thrive in collaborative environments, embrace Agile development methodologies, and aim to identify and promote both technical and process innovations. The C4I Prototype is an evolving product that is close to deployment, facilitating the monitoring and communication of a buoy featuring custom hardware that implements a software-defined radio. The capacity to design and implement VHDL firmware will be critical to achieve key mission goals. Responsibilities will vary based on project objectives and may extend to other programs beyond the C4I Prototype. If you’re seeking comfort, this may not be the place for you. At Leidos, we strive to outthink, outbuild, and outpace the status quo — because the mission demands it. We aren’t hiring followers; we’re looking for those who challenge norms, provoke thoughts, and refuse to accept failure. Step 10 is yesterday's news. We are already at step 30 — moving faster than anyone else dares to venture.
