Responsibilities

- Analyze, design, simulate, and implement algorithms in hardware descriptor languages, HDL (VHDL, Verilog) - Collaborate with a multi-disciplined design team to integrate challenging DSP FPGA designs for RF systems - Design and integrate DSP applications for latest System on a Chip (SoC) implementations, using Xilinx and/or Intel RFSoCs - Develop and implement HDL test benches for code validation and validation against models - Generate and maintain engineering and configuration management documents for FPGA project hierarchy - Plan and execute project tests, both in lab and field environments - Provide technical support and assistance in field activities - Conduct experimental tests, evaluate results, and generate specifications for next-generation components - Interact with customers, suppliers, and peer groups - Provide status reports to project managers and division production manager as required

Description

At our Leidos Electronic Warfare (EW) Division in Beavercreek, Ohio, we are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be working with a talented and diverse design team consisting of electrical engineers, systems engineers, scientists, and more. Your primary focus will be on designing, developing, simulating, and integrating complex Digital Signal Processing (DSP) FPGA designs and Radio Frequency (RF) sensor systems based on project requirements. To succeed in this position, you must have a deep understanding of signal processing theory and communications systems, allowing you to effectively apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges. You should also be proficient in MATLAB signal processing environment and possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. In terms of responsibilities, you will be responsible for analyzing, designing, simulating, and implementing algorithms in hardware descriptor languages such as VHDL and Verilog. You will collaborate closely with the design team to integrate DSP FPGA designs for RF systems, utilizing the latest SoC implementations from Xilinx and/or Intel RFSoCs. Additionally, you will be involved in developing and implementing HDL test benches for code validation, performing design constraints generation and verification, and implementing signal processing concepts into new or existing HDL designs. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the entire project lifecycle, from concept to integration, test, and verification of the final products. You will also be involved in generating and maintaining various engineering documents, such as requirements documents, functional specification documents, and interface control documents. Furthermore, you will play a key role in planning and executing project tests, providing technical support in field activities, and conducting experimental tests on FPGA and SoC evaluation boards. We are looking for a candidate who can work independently and collaboratively, with the ability to analyze and solve complex problems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will interact with customers, suppliers, and peer groups. You should also be highly organized and capable of providing timely updates and status reports to project managers and division production manager.
