Requirements
Must:
- Hands-on experience utilizing AI-assisted coding tools, such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot, for tasks including:
- Code generation and refactoring
- Debugging and automated test creation
- Integrating workflows within IDEs
- Familiarity with major large language model platforms like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini
- Proven experience in designing effective prompts and validating AI-generated results
- Understanding of human-in-the-loop development principles and ethical AI utilization
- Capability to assess AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, safety, and bias, particularly in regulated or critical environments
- Background in integrating AI/ML methodologies into software development processes
- Proficiency with automated testing frameworks
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, OR a Masters degree with at least 2 years of related experience
- Strong foundation in object-oriented programming
- Expertise in programming languages such as C, C++, and/or Ada (Ada is preferred)
- Proven experience in developing real-time, multi-threaded systems
- Familiarity with Linux environments (Red Hat), virtual machines, and hypervisor technologies
- Experience with low-level communication protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, and SCTP
- Background in hardware or complex systems integration
- Familiarity with source control and configuration management tools
- Strong communication skills with the ability to function independently and as part of diverse teams
- Capacity to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance
- U.S. citizenship is mandatory
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software for high-availability, real-time systems
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance coding speed, refactoring, debugging, and automated test generation
- Employ AI responsibly throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, documentation, and code review
- Analyze intricate system requirements and convert them into effective and maintainable designs
- Create and sustain automation scripts across development, testing, and production environments
- Advocate for code quality, reusability, traceability, and collaboration across teams
Description
We at Leidos are looking for a Software Engineer with experience in AI-enabled development to join our team in Gaithersburg, MD; Eagan, MN; or Egg Harbor, NJ. You will have the opportunity to engage in the modernization of a crucial air traffic management platform that plays a key role in ensuring safe national air traffic operations in the UK. Our work involves applying both traditional systems engineering practices and innovative AI-enhanced software development methods. This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring 3 days onsite and allowing 2 days remote work.
