Requirements
Must:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.
- At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related environment is desirable.
- Trade school or college coursework in a relevant field is beneficial.
- Must possess the ability to exert over 100 pounds of force occasionally, over 50 pounds frequently, and over 20 pounds consistently.
- Strong communication skills are necessary, both verbally and in writing, when interacting with employees and guests in a friendly and service-oriented manner.
- Ability to listen, comprehend, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests is essential.
- Must be capable of multitasking and prioritizing departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Must maintain consistent attendance in accordance with Highgate’s standards, which may vary based on hotel requirements.
- Strong personal grooming standards must be upheld, including wearing the appropriate uniform and nametag.
- Comply with Highgate's standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient operations.
- Show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Carry out repairs on the hotel air conditioning system, including changing filters, cleaning coils, and replacing motors.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on all equipment like boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
- Take necessary readings on various equipment and test cooling tower readings.
- Replace and program televisions as required.
- Change light switches, receptacles, bulbs, and fixtures.
- Repair furniture and replace or repair pumps.
- Execute plumbing repairs, addressing issues such as clogged drains, copper pipes, and changing washers and handles.
- Read and comprehend blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Trace and fix all types of water lines, troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment.
- Maintain records of repairs and preventive maintenance and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Test, clean, and repair swimming pools and spas, paint designated areas, repair drywall, and various wall coverings.
- Repair and program the hotel’s electronic lock system.
