Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related technical field - Over 10 years of relevant experience (or 5+ with a Masters degree) in network engineering, integration, or research, development, testing, and evaluation roles - Direct experience in supporting field deployments or assessing mission systems in operational settings strongly preferred - Understanding of DHS or DoD acquisition processes and systems engineering methodologies (e.g., SELC, ALF) - Capability to distill complex technical challenges into clear, actionable strategies for both technical and non-technical audiences - Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities within diverse teams

Responsibilities

- Assist in the design, integration, and practical evaluation of secure, robust network structures supporting CBP mission systems - Assess network efficiency and system integration for surveillance towers, mobile command units, wireless sensors, biometric screening stations, and counter-UAS technologies - Diagnose and resolve intricate physical and logical network configurations for both fixed and mobile setups - Produce and interpret network schematics and diagrams to guide system readiness, deployment strategies, and operational clarity - Work with CBP personnel and field operators to confirm network capabilities under actual operational circumstances and mission limitations - Utilize knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, WAN optimizers, and VPNs to enhance connectivity and resilience across distributed systems - Aid in Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF), segmentation tactics, and secure communication pathways in partnership with DHS corporate teams - Apply experience from Network Operations Centers (NOC) and Security Operations Centers (SOC) to assist in fault detection, incident response, and continuous situational awareness for critical network infrastructure - Collaborate with Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) to facilitate vulnerability management, patching, and ongoing monitoring efforts - Support the planning, documentation, and resolution of outcomes from penetration testing, red/blue team evaluations, and the application of STIG regulations - Provide technical insights on system requirements, capability assessments, and trade-off analysis for networked solutions - Participate in creating engineering documentation such as Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs), and Test Plans - Help coordinate and execute technical demonstrations and system acceptance tests focusing on communication infrastructure and integration efficacy - Engage in interdisciplinary teams to ensure deployed solutions align with operational objectives, acquisition schedules, and user requirements
