Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years in system and/or security engineering within a DoD Cybersecurity Enterprise setting
- Experience in implementing RMF processes and managing RMF documentation like SSPs and POAMs
- In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, NIST SP 800-53 Rev 4/5 standards, and DoD cybersecurity policies
- Familiarity with systems lifecycle engineering processes and vulnerability mitigation strategies utilizing security scanning tools
- Intermediate-level DoD 8140 certification (e.g., Security+, CGRC/CAP, or CASP+) is required
- Top Secret/SCI security clearance is mandatory
- Must be onsite at the Pentagon 3-5 days per week
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, adept at conveying complex technical information to a varied audience
- Proven track record in managing conflicting priorities in fast-paced, mission-driven environments
- Knowledgeable in continuous monitoring tools and the creation of dashboards for system security controls and compliance logs
Responsibilities
- Direct the entire Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycle, covering categorization, implementation, assessment, authorization, and ongoing monitoring
- Create and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Assessment Reports (SARs), and Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs)
- Perform risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to pinpoint and address potential security threats
- Ensure comprehensive adherence to NIST SP 800-series guidelines, DoD STIGs, SRGs, and other industry standards
- Work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure cybersecurity criteria are recognized, allocated, implemented, verified, and continuously monitored throughout the system lifecycle
- Offer independent cybersecurity advice to stakeholders including system engineers, program managers, and Authorizing Officials or their representatives
- Aid product teams in obtaining and maintaining Authorization to Operate (ATO) or Interim Authorization to Test (IATT), tracking risk mitigation and suggesting security control enhancements
- Raise issues, risks, or constraints to appropriate stakeholders for resolution
- Manage change processes and support essential compliance activities via secure system design, vulnerability remediation, and ongoing monitoring protocols
- Counsel on addressing findings from security scans using DoD and industry best practices
