Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors Degree with four (4) years of prior technical writing experience.
- Graduate Degree with two (2) years of prior technical writing experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of prior technical writing experience in an aerospace-driven environment or within the defense sector.
- Proven skills in writing, editing, and proofreading, capable of conveying complex technical information in a clear and efficient manner.
- Ability to obtain and sustain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Responsibilities
- Gather, create, and refine technical documentation, including flight and maintenance manuals, for our warfighters.
- Interact with internal and external contacts to clarify and interpret operational processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to collect data and comprehend technical specifications and requirements.
- Structure and compile researched technical information for documentation development, including an understanding of engineering principles and the ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Generate content for illustrated parts catalogs, maintenance manuals, and mission system instructions using FrameMaker or other authoring software for various military programs.
- Simplify intricate technical concepts into accessible documentation that is easy for end-users to grasp.
- Ensure all documentation complies with industry standards, best practices, and applicable DoD and FAA regulations.
- Collaborate with management to monitor project budgets, timelines, and deliverable milestones.
- Manage specific projects or processes under general guidance.
- Suggest improvements to systems and processes as necessary.
- Strive to meet operational targets for various programs and projects with a moderate impact on department outcomes.
