Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in relevant field with a minimum of 9 years of related experience, or a graduate degree with 7 years of experience
- Proven background in embedded software development
- At least 3 years of experience in management and leadership within technical programs
- Familiarity with full software lifecycle development and performance appraisals
- Expertise in Software Development methodologies: Agile/Scrum, Agile/SAFe, Waterfall, TDD
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for software development
- Proficient in leading software projects through design, coding, integration, deployment, and sustainment phases
- Current ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship
- Preferred qualifications include experience as a Lead Software Engineer or Subject Matter Expert in product development
- Minimum of 8 years software development experience with OOD, UML, C/C++, Java, and web technologies
- Knowledge of cloud development technologies and understanding of service models: IaaS, SaaS, PaaS
- Experience with command, control, and communications for space systems
- Strong executive communication and presentation skills
- Commitment to continuous improvement and excellence, utilizing Lean Six Sigma principles
- Understanding of Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Control Account Management (CAM)
- Certified SCRUM Master, Product Owner, Release Train Engineer, or Coach
Responsibilities
- Lead a diverse team of software engineers to fulfill customer requirements within assigned cost, scope, and schedule
- Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews as part of the development process
- Collaborate effectively with other engineers to craft reliable software solutions
- Adhere to Agile software development practices and engineering processes
- Provide software support to units under various test conditions and on-orbit assets
- Regularly communicate project status, challenges, milestones, and progress to leadership
- Utilize strong technical skills to assist in requirements analysis, design, coding, unit testing, integration, and requirements validation
- Conduct root cause corrective action investigations and provide insights during non-advocate reviews
- Oversee budget development for the department, managing operational needs, training, and resources
- Ensure staffing, training, and talent development align with department goals and objectives
- Act as a trusted advisor to engineering staff to navigate technical or operational challenges
- Influence the development of organizational objectives and short-term operational plans
- Engage with management and stakeholders to support strategic planning and resource sharing initiatives
- Stay informed of advancements in technology to drive innovation and improvement within programs
