Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline; Masters degree is preferred.
- Active DoD security clearance required (SECRET minimum).
- 10 years of Systems Engineering experience in Information Assurance systems or related products.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycle from concept to test, including architecture development, functional analysis, requirements allocation & traceability, trade studies, system synthesis, and integration.
- Experience in planning, developing, and executing verification activities for security features and system-level functionality.
- Practical experience in system integration and testing (I&T) for complex embedded or networked systems.
- Ability to author and review documentation for formal design assessments.
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Proven success in architecture, design, analysis, integration, and testing of NSA Type-1 certified or NSA-approved systems or equipment.
- Experience with security verification test planning and execution.
- Understanding of the NSA Type-1 certification lifecycle and interactions with NSA technical evaluators.
- Expertise in supporting NSA security certification and verification activities, including evidence production and certification finding resolution.
- Familiarity with NSA certification artifacts and deliverables across multiple programs is highly valued.
- Exceptional skills in security architecture development with the capacity to navigate complex security trade-offs in high-assurance systems.
- Knowledge of Type-1, Suite A, Suite B, and Commercial cryptographic algorithms (both symmetric and asymmetric).
- Understanding of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), TLS, and certificate/key management.
- Insight into key management systems such as EKMS and KMI as utilized in End Cryptographic Units (ECUs).
- Experience with secure networking protocols, red/black interface design, and embedded Linux development environments for cryptographic devices.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities to coordinate efforts across teams, influence decisions, resolve issues, and articulate changes effectively.
Responsibilities
- Utilize security and cryptography expertise across the Systems Engineering lifecycle to develop and certify National Security systems on schedule and within budget while maintaining low residual risk.
- Collaborate on the design, development, and testing of high-assurance security solutions for clients in the Defense and Intelligence sectors.
- Produce Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), breakdown and synthesis of security requirements, and verification of security features.
- Aid in the development and analysis of security architecture, and participate in design and security test planning and execution.
- Assist in NSA certification processes, secure networking integration, and safeguarding embedded platform security for Type-1 cryptographic communication systems.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and lead Systems Engineer for Information Assurance, Security, and Cryptography projects.
- Travel as needed, up to 10%.
