Scientist, Systems Engineering (Network Architect)

Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in a technical field with at least 12 years of professional experience
- Graduate degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of applicable experience
- Over 5 years of expertise in network architecture and design, ideally within the aerospace or defense sectors
- Proficient understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices
- Familiarity with RF communication technologies and standards
- Experience in systems engineering and requirements management
- Active DoD Secret clearance
- Experience with requirements management tools and model-based systems engineering tools is preferred
- Knowledge of space mission operations and ground station network infrastructure is beneficial
- Existing cybersecurity certifications are a plus
- Experience with cloud computing services
- Understanding of satellite mission lifecycle from concept through deployment and operation
- Previous mentorship and leadership experience with technical teams
- Experience in architecting, analyzing, developing, and integrating end-to-end systems, particularly in EO/IR, RF, or space payload, spacecraft bus, and ground station subsystems
Responsibilities
- Design and develop reliable network solutions for space-based remote sensing systems
- Maintain and develop network protocols, systems, and infrastructure for satellite communications and data transmission
- Conduct system-level analysis and simulations to validate network performance and reliability
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams for seamless integration of network components
- Define and implement security protocols to protect mission data from cyber threats
- Produce documentation and technical specifications for network architecture and system designs
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members
- Stay informed of industry advancements and integrate best practices into network designs
- Assist in testing, troubleshooting, and resolving network-related issues during development and operational phases
