Requirements
Must:
- We require a bachelors degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field plus at least 9 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree with at least 7 years of related experience, or 13+ years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
- We prefer candidates with 5 or more years of tactical data link engineering experience.
- We require 5 or more years of experience with Tactical Data Link operations and familiarity with IBS Common Message Format and/or Link 16 message formats.
- We require an active Secret clearance at the time of hire, with the ability to qualify for TS/SCI.
- We require U.S. citizenship.
- We need strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- We need a solid understanding of systems engineering principles and practices.
- We require proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
- We need the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
- We require willingness to travel, primarily within the continental U.S. with occasional international travel.
- We prefer familiarity with MIL-STD 6016, 6018, and 6020.
- We consider software development experience a plus.
Responsibilities
- We review, analyze, and develop tactical data link MIL-STD documentation for the Integrated Broadcast System program.
- We investigate technical issues in MIL-STD documentation and apply problem-solving methods to create solutions with minimal impact on operational systems.
- We participate in working group meetings and prepare proposals to address Tactical Data Link concerns across Department of War programs and services.
- We coordinate with representatives from multiple Department of War organizations and agencies to create MIL-STD updates or corrections that meet user requirements.
- We serve as a subject matter expert on IBS MIL-STD requirements and Tactical Data Link data forwarding needs.
- We respond to questions from Department of War customer representatives and other users of Tactical Data Link MIL-STD documents.
- We prepare and deliver technical briefings to internal and external leadership.
- We mentor junior engineers to strengthen their systems engineering capabilities in support of the IBS program.
