Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field with 9 years of relevant experience in space-based EO/IR systems engineering. - A Masters degree and at least 7 years of relevant experience. - Alternatively, a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree. - At least 6 years of experience in electro-optics, including work with optical design, sensors, detectors, and imaging systems. - Over 6 years of experience using engineering and simulation software tools, such as MATLAB. - Must be eligible for a DOD Secret security clearance. - Preferred: Active Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance. - Demonstrated knowledge of space systems engineering, including familiarity with space environments, satellite systems, and mission design. - Experience in leading technical teams, managing projects, and coordinating cross-functional activities. - Professional certifications, such as INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP), are advantageous. - Proficiency in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools like DOORs, CAMEO, CREO, JIRA, and SysML. - Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a history of successfully addressing complex engineering challenges. - Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with program leadership to create a technical plan for program execution. - Design and integrate advanced electro-optical systems for space applications while adhering to specifications and mission requirements. - Provide technical leadership within systems engineering, encompassing architecture development and requirements analysis. - Manage and maintain system and sub-system requirements, ensuring traceability and compliance throughout the project. - Conduct modeling and simulation to predict system performance and behavior across varied operational scenarios. - Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout all project phases, from conceptualization to delivery. - Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, design descriptions, test plans, and reports. - Translate customer needs into system-level requirements and assess alternative solutions for preliminary designs. - Develop and review trade studies for accuracy to support informed decision-making. - Identify and resolve challenges through logical engineering reasoning. - Communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders, including subcontractors and U.S. Government clients, to ensure project alignment. - Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards and best practices. - Work cooperatively in a team setting and engage with multidisciplinary teams to meet project objectives. - Train and mentor junior engineers, supporting their professional development within the team.
