Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in engineering or a related technical field with at least five (5) years of relevant experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
- Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a Secret clearance and passing any additional security background checks as necessary.
- Experience with establishing and implementing a MIL-STD-882 safety program culminating in a comprehensive safety assessment.
- Proficient in understanding preliminary and system hazard analysis, hazard logs, fault tree analyses, environmental assessments and management, risk assessments and mitigation, and occupational health hazard assessments.
- Ability to translate system specifications into functional requirements.
- Skill in interpreting technical schematics.
- Capacity to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to travel minimally when necessary.
- Preferred: Experience with aircraft platforms.
- Preferred: Pilot experience.
- Preferred: Proficiency in reliability and maintainability modeling.
- Preferred: Familiarity with FMECA.
- Preferred: Experience in human factors modeling and simulation.
- Preferred: Knowledge of PTC WindChill (Releyence).
- Preferred: Understanding of Airworthiness Certification.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that systems achieve acceptable safety levels and critical functions are maintained during component failures.
- Identify and assess risks to eliminate or mitigate them to acceptable levels, considering both the likelihood and severity of failure events.
- Develop and execute safety programs in accordance with MIL-STD-882, delivering thorough safety evaluations.
- Conduct and interpret various safety and risk analyses including hazard identification and environmental assessments.
- Collaborate effectively within a team or work independently as project needs dictate.
- Remain available for limited travel if required for project assignments.
