Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline with at least 15 years of experience; or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of experience.
- Proven experience in leading and nurturing large software engineering teams across various programs or sectors.
- Solid technical foundation in software engineering fundamentals: embedded software, mission software architectures, DevSecOps, software integration and testing, AI/ML, and software-centric systems.
- Demonstrated experience in crafting engineering team strategies, workforce development plans, and performance management systems.
- Active Secret Clearance is preferred.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities with a history of influencing across organizations.
- Practical experience with AI-assisted software development tools, code generation, automated testing, and the integration of AI in software engineering processes.
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), digital engineering frameworks, and software architecture modeling.
- Experience in managing and expanding engineering communities of practice within large, distributed organizations.
- Strong understanding of Agile, SAFe, and DevSecOps frameworks within a defense program context.
- Experience leading extensive DoD proposals that include significant software engineering components.
Responsibilities
- Lead initiatives that span the segment while being ready to support sectors with pressing technical challenges and critical program requirements.
- Facilitate the sharing of resources, best practices, and discipline standards across sectors to enhance overall efficiency and capabilities.
- Establish and oversee Cross-Sector Communities of Practice (CoPs) for software engineering disciplines to promote talent development and knowledge sharing.
- Identify, assess, prioritize, and promote the use of software engineering tools, infrastructure, DevSecOps platforms, development environments, and processes to boost engineering productivity.
- Own the AI strategy and roadmap for software engineering, pinpointing areas where AI-assisted development, code generation, test automation, and intelligent tooling can revolutionize software development at L3Harris.
- Collaborate with AI Workforce Readiness to ensure AI training programs are customized for software engineers and align with discipline-specific plans and program requirements.
- Mentor and develop talent within the discipline, fostering a culture of technical excellence, lifelong learning, and innovation.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to sector Chief Engineers, program managers, and business development teams concerning software engineering strategy, standards, and capabilities.
