Requirements
Must:
- Fortinet certification required (e.g., Fortinet Certified Associate, Fortinet Certified Professional, NSE 4, NSE 5, NSE 6, or NSE 7)
- 3–5+ years of experience in network, NOC, firewall, or security support
- Practical experience with FortiGate firewalls
- Solid understanding of firewall policies, NAT, VPN, VLANs, routing, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP
- Proven capability in troubleshooting IPsec VPN, SSL VPN, and connectivity issues
- Experience managing tickets, monitoring alerts, and documenting technical challenges
- Ability to work independently while staying organized and effectively communicating with technical teams
- Comfortable with a full-time remote contract schedule (40 hours per week) for 6–12 months
Responsibilities
- Oversee Fortinet network and security infrastructure, reacting promptly to alerts, incidents, and support requests
- Assist in managing FortiGate firewall administration, including policy reviews, VPN troubleshooting, NAT configurations, routing challenges, and connectivity issues
- Collaborate with senior Fortinet engineer on implementation, configuration, and support activities
- Diagnose IPsec VPN, SSL VPN, firewall policy, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and branch connectivity problems
- Analyze logs and alerts through FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, SIEM tools, or other monitoring systems
- Document troubleshooting methods, ticket updates, configuration alterations, and escalation details
- Refer complex Fortinet, routing, firewall, or security issues to the senior engineer when necessary
- Engage in remote support conferences, project updates, and technical troubleshooting discussions
- Adhere to change management, incident management, and client documentation protocols
Description
At L2R Consulting, we are looking to expand our dedicated team with a Mid-Level Fortinet NOC Engineer for a remote contract position lasting 6–12 months. We offer competitive pay rates of up to $35/hr based on experience and qualifications. This role is essential for supporting a large Fortinet implementation and includes collaborating with a senior engineer on a variety of network security operations.
