Requirements
Must:
- Over 5 years of experience in mainframe (z/OS) infrastructure or production support roles
- Comprehensive hands-on expertise with z/OS, JES2/JES3, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, USS/OMVS, SMP/E
- Practical knowledge of at least two of the following: DB2, CICS, IMS, IBM MQ (including configuration, troubleshooting, and performance)
- Experience in production control with Control M, CA 7, ESP/Autosys, or similar; in-depth JCL and batch troubleshooting capabilities
- Understanding of storage principles: DFSMS, DFSMShsm, ICF catalog/IDCAMS, DASD/tape operations, space/VTOC administration
- Proficiency in monitoring and performance evaluation (RMF/SMF, OMEGAMON, or similar tools)
- Familiarity with RACF/ACF2/Top Secret concepts, access models, and supporting audits
- Solid grasp of ITIL processes and experience with an ITSM tool (preferably ServiceNow) for incident/problem/change management
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to operate in a follow-the-sun/on-call support framework
Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and optimize z/OS LPARs, Sysplex, WLM, JES2/JES3, USS/OMVS, TSO/ISPF, SDSF
- Install, configure, and maintain mainframe software leveraging SMP/E and vendor best practices
- Monitor and fine-tune system performance utilizing RMF, SMF, OMEGAMON (or equivalent), addressing CPU, memory, I/O, and throughput concerns
- Administer and support DB2 for z/OS, CICS TS, IMS (DB/TM), and IBM MQ, ensuring configuration, health checks, upgrades/maintenance, and performance enhancement with high availability
- Collaborate with application teams on deployment validation, capacity assessments, SQL/CICS/IMS optimization, and MQ channel/queue configuration, while troubleshooting production issues
- Oversee workload automation and batch scheduling using tools like Control M, CA 7, ESP/Autosys, or analogs; ensuring adherence to batch SLAs and critical path requirements
- Diagnose JCL issues, dataset management, procs, condition codes, and abends; carry out restart/recovery processes and reruns
- Enhance job streams for efficiency and reliability through dependency modeling, calendars, alerts, and event-driven triggers
