Requirements

Must:
- Strong grasp of rotating machinery and turbomachinery design - Familiarity with mechanical design principles, including stress, fatigue, and thermal effects - Capability to interpret and create engineering drawings with GD&T - Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) - Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities - Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams - Competence in managing confidential and export-controlled information (ITAR) - Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field - 3-8 years of experience in mechanical design or turbomachinery engineering - Experience with propulsion systems or aerospace rotating hardware (preferred) - Familiarity with rotor dynamics and high-speed rotating systems (preferred) - Experience supporting development and production programs (preferred)

Responsibilities

- Lead the design and development of rotating turbomachinery components such as turbine wheels, compressor rotors, shafts, and seals - Assist Design Engineering in creating 3D CAD models and 2D engineering documentation - Define component best practices based on customer requirements and internal methodologies regarding geometry and tolerances - Implement continuous improvement techniques to enhance component design and processes - Ensure that designs comply with structural, thermal, and performance specifications - Oversee the release of engineering documents, models, and specifications according to configuration management protocols - Maintain comprehensive design documentation including drawings, BOMs, calculations, and specifications - Facilitate Engineering Change Requests and ensure designs are configuration-controlled within PLM/PDM systems - Conduct necessary structural analyses, including stress and fatigue evaluations - Collaborate with CAE/FEA engineers to affirm component integrity - Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure components are designed for manufacturability - Assist in machining strategy, tolerance specifications, and inspection criteria - Participate in production readiness reviews and support first article inspections - Engage in component and system testing activities and analyze test data to validate performance - Provide engineering support during development and production tests - Participate in post-test design reviews and lead root cause investigations related to component performance issues - Collaborate closely with various engineering disciplines to communicate design intentions and technical requirements
