Requirements
Must:
- 15+ years in Storage Engineering, Administration, or similar roles with significant experience in IBM enterprise storage systems.
- 5+ years in leadership or managerial positions within storage or infrastructure teams.
- Proven proficiency in designing, deploying, and managing large-scale SAN, NAS, and object storage solutions, particularly in IBM-centric environments.
- Familiarity with multi-vendor storage technologies (IBM, NetApp, Dell EMC) in complex, high-stakes environments.
- Demonstrated success in overseeing extensive IBM storage environments, including performance enhancement, capacity forecasting, and lifecycle supervision.
- Strong knowledge of storage security, disaster recovery (DR) planning, and data protection strategies (backups, snapshots, replication, and recovery).
- Experience managing vendor relationships, handling executive-level escalations, and coordinating contracts.
- Proficient in FC or iSCSI networking, IBM mainframe integration (z/OS, FICON/SAN-attached workloads), and virtualization solutions, along with Cisco MDS switches.
- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- Advanced understanding of SAN, NAS, object storage, and fabric infrastructure design and best practices for IBM platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations and lifecycle management of enterprise storage systems, focusing on IBM Storwize/FlashSystem and IBM Storage DS8000 environments.
- Ensure optimal performance, scalability, reliability, and stability across diverse storage platforms (IBM, NetApp, Dell EMC).
- Direct storage provisioning, monitoring, firmware/microcode upgrades, patch updates, and incident/problem resolution for storage and SAN.
- Establish and drive enterprise storage architecture, standards, and roadmaps centered on IBM storage platforms.
- Offer in-depth hands-on expertise for various IBM and other storage solutions, ensuring secure, resilient, and compliant designs in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Strategize, implement, and manage data protection initiatives, including backups, snapshots, replication, and DR frameworks, ensuring RPO/RTO objectives are met.
- Enforce storage security standards and regulatory compliance across IBM and multi-vendor platforms while applying security-first design principles.
- Monitor system performance and health using IBM Spectrum Control and other tools, conducting capacity forecasting and trend analysis across storage platforms.
- Manage vendor relationships, evaluate technology solutions, and lead roadmap discussions for storage features and services.
- Identify and execute on automation opportunities for storage operations, enhancing service quality and operational efficiency.
- Mentor and guide a team of storage administrators and engineers, fostering skills development and accountability within the group.
