Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 5+ years experience in an Enterprise Cisco LAN, WAN, and Wireless environment supporting at least 5,000 users, or minimum 4+ years in a NOC setting
- Possession of current CCNP Routing and Switching certification or higher
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server
- Proficiency in Red Hat Linux
- Familiarity with network management tools (e.g., Whats Up Gold, CACTI, Cisco Prime, Solarwinds, etc.)
- Cisco security certifications are advantageous
- In-depth knowledge of current CISCO enterprise infrastructure components and related devices
- Capability to create access lists on routers and perform router/switch IOS upgrades
- Experience with Fortinet FortiGate, F5 Big IP, and Cisco wireless networks
- Understanding of routing protocols (Anycast, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
- Strong TCP/IP knowledge and skills in related networking protocols
- Ability to modify network management software as per instructions
- Competency in generating and managing problem-tracking tickets in Service Now
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective customer interaction
- Willingness to be on-call for critical events
- Must work effectively both independently and collaboratively
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the team to oversee daily administrative and engineering tasks related to the Smithsonian Institutions Cisco Network infrastructure
- Conduct daily checks for network integrity and generate shift reports detailing the infrastructure status, issues found, and necessary rectification steps
- Manage network performance and service quality by analyzing bandwidth reports and coordinating with NOC tools
- Monitor and address hardware, software, and network issues while overseeing software and security updates
- Troubleshoot network systems and implement improvements, providing technical guidance for projects
- Upgrade, troubleshoot, and implement Cisco switches and routers, ensuring optimal network performance
- Maintain the Network Tools Management servers using Windows and RHEL Linux, creating network management diagrams and logbooks
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive Master Infrastructure Components List detailing network configurations
- Work schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, from 3 PM to 11 PM
