Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive facilities management experience in hospitality or related fields; or a 4-year degree plus 1 year of relevant management experience; or a 2-year degree with 3+ years of related management experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Stationary Engineers license if mandated by local regulations.
- Proficient in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance skills.
- Ability to work long hours occasionally.
- Heavy lifting required β capable of exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, or consistently moving up to 20 pounds.
- Occasional travel for company business may be expected.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor consistently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to engage with all levels of staff and guests effectively.
- Strong listening and clarification skills for employee and guest concerns.
- Capability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions appropriately.
- Approach all guest and employee interactions with attentiveness, friendliness, and courtesy.
- Required to attend all hotel meetings and training sessions.
- Participation in the Manager on Duty (M.O.D.) coverage as needed.
- Regular attendance in line with Highgate Hotel Standards is essential, as per schedule requirements.
- Uphold high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing name tags.
- Adhere to Highgate Hotel policies and regulations to promote safe and efficient operations.
- Focus on productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in executing solutions.
- Proficient in problem-solving, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving issues as needed.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate complex information and data from multiple sources to achieve goals.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and mentor all Engineering & Security personnel in customer service, empowerment, standard operating procedures, and loss prevention protocols.
- Create, approve, and manage staff schedules for the Engineering & Security teams according to Highgate Hotel standards.
- Establish and maintain the annual budget for the department.
- Develop financial projections and engage in monthly profit/loss assessment meetings.
- Formulate and execute strategies to keep the property, equipment, grounds, and assets well-maintained.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop and enforce a preventive maintenance program for all hotel equipment.
- Guarantee that all emergency and life safety systems are inspected, tested, and certified according to Highgate standards.
- Address room maintenance requests promptly and courteously.
- Respond immediately to all alarms to identify the source and determine the urgency; report findings to Front Desk and act as necessary.
- Assist with special projects and renovations as required.
- Actively engage in energy conservation initiatives.
- Review guest and meeting planner feedback to ensure timely resolution of any issues.
- Ensure adherence to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Manage all vendor contracts within the engineering department.
- Support and take part in all Highgate Hotel programs.
- Lead and participate in the Highgate Hotel Safety Committee.
