Requirements
Must:
- 3-5+ years of experience in infrastructure or cloud migration positions
- Proficient in VMware technologies (vSphere, ESXi, and related infrastructure)
- Practical understanding of Microsoft Azure IaaS and migration techniques
- Experience in conducting cloud migration assessments and planning processes
- Excellent documentation and communication capabilities
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the existing VMware environment, including vSphere, ESXi, storage, networking, and supporting services
- Inventory and categorize workloads, distinguishing between Azure-ready and non-migratable options
- Document application dependencies, performance needs, and operational limitations
- Analyze workloads to determine Azure compatibility (such as lift-and-shift, rehost, refactor)
- Identify workloads lacking support in Azure and propose alternative hosting solutions (e.g., third-party IaaS)
- Assist in the formation of a phased migration strategy, scheduling, and high-level architecture
- Contribute to the migration roadmap, timeline projections, risks, and assumptions
- Work collaboratively with infrastructure, cloud, security, and application teams, as well as Microsoft/partner resources
- Generate clear documentation accessible to both technical and executive stakeholders
