Requirements
Must:
- 2-5 years of experience in a Product Owner, Project Manager, Engineering/Development Lead, or a comparable role focusing on data-intensive products or platforms
- Direct involvement in data migration projects, including transitioning from legacy systems to cloud or modern platforms
- Familiarity with tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, GitHub, Power BI, and the Azure ecosystem (ADF, Azure SQL DB, etc.)
- Understanding of ETL/ELT processes, workflow management, and principles of relational and dimensional modeling in data warehousing
- Strong SQL skills for validation, troubleshooting, and prioritizing tasks
- Experience with Agile methodologies and backlog management tools like Azure DevOps
- Exceptional communication abilities to bridge the gap between business objectives and technical implementation
Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete product backlog for data migration projects, including epics, features, and user stories related to migration phases and cutover plans
- Establish and convey clear migration goals, success metrics, and acceptance criteria focused on data accuracy, completeness, and reconciliation
- Prioritize tasks based on business implications, technical dependencies, data risks, and timeline of releases
- Serve as the main point of accountability for the migration scope, readiness of the backlog, and overall delivery outcomes
- Collaborate with the Data Engineering and Architecture teams to strategize and implement migrations across various databases, data warehouses, lakes, and analytics platforms
- Work together on mappings, transformation logic, data validation rules, and reconciliation approaches
- Ensure that non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, security, retention, and compliance are met
- Assist in cutover planning, conduct parallel runs, establish rollback strategies, and execute post-migration validation
- Engage closely with business stakeholders to comprehend how the migrated data will be utilized in reporting, analytics, and operational systems
- Manage dependencies with both upstream and downstream system owners to reduce disruption to the business
- Clearly communicate the progress of migrations, along with associated risks and trade-offs, to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborate with QA and Data Quality teams to guarantee that defects are managed, prioritized, and resolved effectively
- Lead the refinement of backlogs, as well as sprint planning and reviews for migration workstreams within an Agile or hybrid delivery framework
- Ensure that user stories are well-defined, testable, and ready for development ahead of entering a sprint
- Utilize metrics and data (such as defect trends, reconciliation outcomes, and throughput) to guide prioritization and decision-making
