Requirements
Must:
- Strong hands-on expertise with Windows Server environments
- In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, specifically in Group Policy analysis and remediation
- Experience in managing certificates/PKI
- Familiarity with supporting IIS and Windows-based web infrastructure
- Proven track record in upgrading or modernizing legacy systems
- Ability to work independently in complex and imperfect settings
- Preferred: Experience leading or owning AD cleanup or restructuring initiatives
- Preferred: Background in standardizing environments that have developed organically
- Preferred: Strong troubleshooting capabilities with older or less-documented systems
- Preferred: Ability to articulate reasons for implemented changes, not just the changes themselves
Responsibilities
- Conduct a thorough analysis of the current Active Directory environment, focusing on both Group Policy structure and configuration inconsistencies
- Identify areas to simplify, standardize, and enhance Active Directory configurations
- Improve overall Active Directory hygiene to mitigate long-term administrative risks
- Assist in upgrading legacy Windows servers and systems
- Enhance the reliability and maintainability of older environments while ensuring dependent services remain operational
- Carefully plan and execute upgrades in production settings
- Provide ongoing support for Windows Server environments and associated services
- Maintain Active Directory and authentication services, along with PKI and web server infrastructure
- Ensure that foundational systems stay stable, secure, and well-maintained
- Evaluate existing configurations, suggesting enhancements as necessary
- Implement changes with minimal supervision, practicing thoughtful risk management
- Document observations, improvements, and changes as appropriate

In this role, you will help modernize and improve a legacy Windows environment with a focus on Active Directory and Group Policy.
