Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field is necessary; a Masters degree is advantageous but not mandatory
- OSHA 10/30 certification is a plus
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or as a NPI Engineer for electro-mechanical products
- Proficiency in designing manufacturing assembly processes and production lines
- Knowledge of DFMA principles as they relate to electro-mechanical product design
- Successful history of designing low to mid-volume electro-mechanical products or test equipment for such products
- Familiarity with tools like SolidWorks for light mechanical design of assembly aids
- Experience in managing pilot runs of new product development to facilitate new product introductions
- Skills in creating and modifying Work Instructions for Assembly Sites; knowledge of Dozuki is preferred
- Capability to perform light mechanical or electrical assembly for laboratory, assembly or test equipment
- Experience in conducting root cause analysis investigations
- Background in collaborating with Assembly Operators
- Proven ability to work well with teams to design and transition products from concept to production
- Strong technical writing skills focused on equipment set-up, operation procedures, and manufacturing process control plans
- Competency in status reporting and communicating technical data/results, including issues, impacts, and corrective actions
- Familiarity with writing, reviewing, and coordinating Deviations for Production Lines
- Valid passport and willingness to travel to Mexico quarterly (usually 2 to 3 days at a time)
- Project Management experience is beneficial but not essential
- Experience in an ISO 9001:2015 environment is favorable
- Knowledge of Waterfall and/or Agile NPD processes is a significant advantage
Responsibilities
- Spearhead the establishment of manufacturing process flows and control plans for low to mid-volume electro-mechanical products
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers at Contract Manufacturers, Design Engineers, Quality Engineers, and other stakeholders to define testing and assembly processes for new offerings
- Partner with design and quality engineering teams to create specialized test equipment needed for product design
- Collaborate with external Contract Manufacturers in the design of assembly fixtures for low to mid-volume electro-mechanical products
- Engage in DFMA and FMEA activities on new product designs, providing insights to design engineers; Utilize DFMA best practices and expertise in design, part fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials for design evaluation
- Act as a liaison between NPD Project Teams and Contract Manufacturers to ensure readiness of manufacturing lines and fixtures for pilot runs; Gather feedback from assembly line operators to drive design improvements
- Conduct mechanical testing on new products produced during pilot runs as required
