Requirements
Must:
- Over 5 years of experience in data engineering or platform engineering, with a minimum of 2-3 years in Databricks administration
- In-depth knowledge of Unity Catalog, cluster policies, Delta Lake, Spark, workspace setup, and job configuration
- Solid understanding of data governance, data modeling, ingestion frameworks, schema enforcement, versioning, and lineage
- Demonstrated experience in implementing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) in Databricks or comparable platforms
- Proficient in cost optimization, monitoring, billing logs, and compute governance
- Strong skills in Python/PySpark and SQL; Familiarity with Delta Live Tables (DLT), Apache Airflow, or Databricks Workflows
Responsibilities
- Oversee platform administration and governance
- Manage security, compliance, and access controls, including workspace and catalog permissions, row/column-level policies, attribute-based filtering, and workspace isolation; Collaborate with security teams to uphold compliance and enforce global data protection protocols
- Implement cost management and monitoring measures, including cost thresholds, alerts, compute policies, and usage dashboards to avoid overspending; Monitor job and cluster expenses, identify anomalies, and recommend optimization strategies; Provide insights into SKU-level expenditures and workspace cost patterns
- Ensure operational stability and observability of the platform through automated testing, CI/CD methodologies, and code governance; Develop dashboards to monitor code compliance, data access, pipeline health, schema drift, and cost thresholds; Address platform incidents and enhance configurations to prevent recurrence
- Define best practices and guidelines for platform usage, including ingestion, Delta conventions, CI/CD, observability, and AI/ML frameworks; Coach data and analytics teams on compliant onboarding and optimal platform utilization; Maintain internal documentation, templates, and guidance

We are Kforce, seeking a skilled Platform Engineer with extensive experience in Databricks administration, data governance, and adherence to platform-level engineering standards. This hybrid role is based in Houston, TX, requiring 2 days on-site. Our mission is to support analytics and AI teams in building efficiently and safely on a shared Databricks platform by upholding data quality, ingestion standards, security measures, and cost governance.
